Mord i Soledad (George Jackson 2. del)

(Læs 1. del: George Jackson – “gansta”.)

Fra midten af 1960’erne lå Black Muslims og Nazis i åben krig, men “It was George Jackson who expanded the violence to the noninvolved“, skriver forfatteren Edward Bunker:

It started when several Muslims ambushed Stan Owens, the lead Nazi, and used him for bayonet practice. Anywhere else he would have died, but as I said, San Quentin’s doctors are the worlds best with knife wounds. He lived—with one less kidney and a sever limp. Within the week the Nazis retaliated three times. One died; one survived as a paraplegic.

Edward Bunker fortsætter:

That was too much for George Jackson. He was not a Muslim; he was a radical militant. One day he pulled together a crew of three or four and at the after-lunch lockup, led them along the second tier of the South Cell House. There they stabbed every white on the tier, all of whom wore white jumpsuits, for they had just gotten off bus and had no idea they would be attacked for being white. One died, and one vaulted the railing to avoid the stabbing blades broke both his angles on the concrete below.

Within hours all the assailants were in the hole, but none were indicted in outside court. George Jackson was transferred to Tracy, were he ignited another racial conflict. He got himself locked up an transferred to Soledad.

Tårnvagten åbnede ild og dræbte to sorte.

… had been especially chosen for the guard tower job because of his emotional stability and because of his lack of racial bias.

Ved hans lig lå beskeden “one down, two to go“.
